Hasmik Hakobyan: A Journey That Began at the School of Translation

Hasmik Hakobyan is one of the young professionals whose name has become closely associated with the creative and educational initiatives of the Mashtots Publishing House. She was one of the first to join the School of Translation, marking the beginning of her multifaceted and promising career in literary translation.

Since then, she has actively participated in the foundation’s training programmes and consistently contributed to translation workshops, honing her skills and sharing her experience and perspective with fellow participants.

One of Hasmik’s first notable accomplishments was her contribution to the Armenian translation of Elinor W. Porter’s classic novel, Pollyanna. The book launch took place at Zangak Bookstore, where she appeared as one of the co-translators who had helped to make this beloved piece of American juvenile literature available to Armenian readers.

Some time later, the same bookstore hosted another significant event in her career: the launch of the Armenian translation of Nicholas Sparks’ A Walk to Remember. This time, she was the sole translator, offering readers a heartfelt and stylistically nuanced Armenian version of Sparks’ deeply emotional novel.

Hasmik’s story is a testament to the value of education as a long-term investment, one that continuously empowers individuals at different stages of life. Her dedication and commitment to professional growth are already yielding results, and we take great pride in witnessing her steady progress.

Dear Hasmik, congratulations on your achievements so far. May this be just the beginning of your meaningful contributions to Armenian literary translation.
