General English Course

A high level of English proficiency is essential for professional translators. With this in mind, the Translation School offered translators the opportunity to take General English courses at the American University. The primary goals were to strengthen linguistic foundations, improve communication skills, and ensure steady language progress.

Before the course, all participants took a placement test to determine their proficiency levels. Based on the results, groups were formed to match learners with appropriate levels. This ensured effective learning for both beginners and advanced participants.

The course provided a comprehensive approach, focusing on listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Participants engaged in discussions, pair and group work, written tasks, and listening exercises. The methodology emphasized a communicative approach: grammar was taught through practical use in real-life contexts rather than rote memorization.

At the end of the course, participants demonstrated their progress through assessments and practical tasks, with results showing significant improvement across all language skills.
