Who we are
In today’s world, full of diverse challenges, one of the essential foundations of our existence and survival remains the written word—books and knowledge, and the ability to keep pace with global developments and demands.
In this context, the translation of both classical and contemporary works—artistic and professional alike—has become a vital necessity. Translation opens the door for Armenian readers and intellectuals to engage with the progress of the modern world.
Mashtots Publishing House was founded in 2021 by the initiative group of the NGO Community Development with the support of Archbishop Abraham Mkrtchyan, Primate of the Diocese of Vayots Dzor. The publishing house was created as a unique platform for young people in the region who possess foreign language skills.
The purpose of founding Mashtots Publishing House is:
- To revive and continue the finest traditions of the School of Translators that began in the 5th century;
- To pass on these traditions to future generations;
- To form a team of highly qualified, multilingual translators in the Vayots Dzor region.
- In particular, our goals are to:
- Identify young specialists in the region with both foreign language knowledge and translation talent, providing them with opportunities for growth;
- Highlight their role in this important cultural endeavor;
- Contribute to the cultural vitality of the region;
- Provide sustainable employment opportunities.
OUR mission
Our mission is to bring valuable works of world literature to Armenian readers through high-quality translations made directly from the original language, while also supporting the professional growth of young translators by combining training with practical experience.
